Round 8 has been underway for 1 hour
All 7 players are in serious tournament mode.
One refused a draw after just 11 moves - I hear through the grapevine.
Our shortest draw was, I believe, 19 moves. Fritz did say that our player was 1.2 pawns down so we can perhaps forgive him for offering the draw
No recent complaints about lack of photos so I guess its been done for me - perhaps on Matthew's facebook page |

I'm impressed
2 hours into the playing session, the playing hall is emptying, and all 7 of our players are still going.
So no news and our transport back to the hotel begins in another 25 minutes
Fine evening though for a 3 km walk

To be fair Jacqui, the leader has played all those on 6, and 2 of the three on 5. This must severely reduce the options open to the arbiters. |

Andy draw is probably correct and certainly fair.
It was done by computer so all players are equally likely to be the victim of computer error.
I was surprised by Vagif's double black but he is happy playing with the black pieces - so I didn't bother to check if he was given the correct colour.
Looking at data on the wall here. Vagif is in clear 5th place.
A won game, I think, gives him somewhere between 2nd and 4th place.
He may be well placed for tie breaks because his first round opponent has advanced to 4.5/8 |

Round 9 started sharp at 8.30 this morning.
One player failed to turn up on time - Andrew McCusker's opponent.
7 minutes into the session the arbiter spoke to Andrew to ask if he wished to claim the game or to give his opponent extra time.
Andrew did not answer. As head of delegation my decision was that he would wait. The arbiter accepted my decision. After 16 minutes we spoke and agreed upon a 30 minute defaile time for the game.
17 minutes into the playing session a Swedish teenager walked into the playing hall still wearing her cycling crash helmet.
The game commenced with 90 minutes on Blacks's clock and 73 minutes on White's. |

Update after 100 minutes play
Loss for Liam
Vagif's position from 10 to 20 seconds study appears viable for both players.
Had a confusing score sheet yesterday
I thought our player had written "Riddles" at move 11
Black had played e6

Vagif lost - not seen the game yet
Andrew Won - declined draw just before winning
Kirsty lost
Colin's game difficult to read but I shouldn't really comment on a live game.
Chilly but Sunny 10 deg C when we arrived this morning.
Hope you have better weather when we return tomorrow evening |

News is that our Flight is due to leave 50 minutes late = at 15.40 local time
