Great news about our Faber team. They should now play some rare openings in their final games! =)

Hopefully more good news will follow.

Great news.
Were they the defending champs?

I think the defending champs are England. We won it 2 years ago. I think the team was Rhian, Ali and Mary-ann, but I may be mistaken

The final scores indicate that some fantastically comprehensive crushing was going on! Congratulations to all involved.

Yes we won when we hosted at Strathclyde Uni in 2009 - team as mentioned above.

I believe all three girls that played this year qualify for next year.

In fact a lot of our players from all teams qualify to play again in that team if they keep up this standard.

Most of us are now home after 4 days that have whizzed by. What a great bunch of kids, great parents & chaperones.

I must mention how fantastic our three coaches were - Chris MacDonald, Andrew Green & Calum MacQueen. Not only were they fantastic with their coaching skills & rapport with the children but also the teamwork they exhibited.

Special thankyou to Lisa not only for her great chaperone skills but also as support to Phil with organising on site. I also thank her on behalf of all teams as she kindly went to the ice cream bar & paid & arranged for everyone to get their treat when they were ready by saying the password - Andy Howie! Also thankyou to Donald for bringing the football & avoiding the 90Euro an hour charge ofr the pitch!

Thankyou to Andy for updating the noticeboard with the results as quickly as I could text (dread to think what my mobile bill will be like with roaming charges but all in a good cause).

Our thanks go to the ICU who did their best to make it an enjoyable stay & to Mark Quinn for his excellent Tour operator skills when a group of us were taken on a tour around the sites of Dublin City on Wednesday although it would have been better if we had sunshine like today rather than the rain!

Next year the event is being hosted by England in Preston - if our juniors continue to improve at the rate they have been we will be even bigger contenders!

I have some photos which I will hopefully upload tomorrow

Well done everyone - you did us proud (I wish I could say I am proud to be Scottish but I dont think I would get away with that!!)

Jacqui speaks for both us here but I can say "Makes me proud to be Scottish" -
well that's my nationality on the FIDE grading list.

Had I selected English at the time of my first FIDE grade then my grade would (I understand) have disappeared recently since I have elected to not pay ECF membership (£25 per year is it?).

Makes us all proud to be Scottish.

Oh and in case I upset anyone

Mirror mirror on the wall who is the most patriotic of us all?

Is it Andrew Mc or is it Phil? or Heather with the navy blue of Oxford?

Well, it just has to be me ofcourse!

I'm proud to be Scottish and proud to be British which makes me twice as patriotic.

Awaiting the fervent nationalistics telling me 'Laddie, ye cannae dae that'

Oh! In case I offended anyone Smile

Well done to all the Scottish players and many thanks to organisers and chaperones.
