Richardson
8 teams entered :
Bon Accord, Cathcart, Dundee, Edinburgh,Glasgow Polytechnic, Hamilton, Oban, Wandering Dragons
Spens
3 teams entered :
Castlehill, Edinburgh B, Hamilton B
I would like a 4th team to enter Spens to give a nice number.
Draws will be made at Dundee Congress |

Contact George Anderson, as he expressed an interest in entering a team from Edinburgh CS |

I will accept late entries to both tournaments if they contact me soon.

Andy - the Edinburgh West AGM is this week - I would guess their Richardson entry will be ratified then. |

I was wondering what is format for Richardson this year?
I notice on fixture list it says this is FIDE rated. I think that's new - was that an AGM decision or were clubs asked to vote on it? |

Good question - Surely you can't have a knockout with 9 teams? |

I can't agree with FIDE rating the Richarsdon, we just have to hope this doesn't put off titled players from playing.
A poll on the website surely cannot be a basis for justifying the decision, anyone can vote in the poll and a lot of votes will be from people who have no interest in the event.
There is already one strong player who said he may not play because of this, I wonder how many more... |

we'll try FIDE ratings this year, if the strong players are put off we can take it off for next year |

Joe,
leaving aside for a moment any individual preferences, and the means by which the decision was taken in this case, what are the objective arguments against fide rating given that
- it is Scotland's premier club competition attracting many strong players.
- is played at a reasonably slow rate of play.
- is one game a day, played at a weekend.
I thought the general feeling on other threads was to encourage more 'serious'/ fide rated opportunities? |

Fully agree Jim,
We need FIDE rated events.
Sure we could function without any fide rated events in Scotland but if we move towards that situation then comparisons between fide grades of Scottish players becomes less and less meaningful. |
