The Glorney team have asked me:
How do you add Rybka 3 as a kibitzer in ChessBase 10 ?
I am no computer expert.
Anyone know how ?

Thanks for that.

I have been told by the team that it now works for CB 10 . However I cannot get it to work with CB 9 though. I have sent the following question to Steffen Giehring at CB.
"Do you need to upgrade to CB10 to install Rybka 3.0 ?"

Clement, I have successfully got Fritz 11 to work with CB 9 , you can contact me.

For the Rybka3/CB9 combination :

Hi Andrew

You can run the Rybka 3 engine in ChessBase 9 too but it is slighly more tricky.
You must load a game and go to menu Engine - Create UCI engine.
Click "Browse" here and search for the folder
C:/Program Files/Common Files/ChessBase/Engines.uci/Rybka3
and load the Rybka 3.exe of your choice here.

Details about the four engine versions of Rybk3 can be found here:
http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail.asp?newsid=4793

In contrast to CB 10 you can not make Rybka 3 your default engine in CB 9.
Please visit
http://www.chessbase.com/shop/product.asp?pid=395&user=&coin=
for details about the CB 10 upgrade offer.

Yours sincerely,
Steffen Giehring

Just installed CB10 (kindlyprovided byCS via Grand Prix) and it has not prompted for the s/no after install.

Good news?

Probably not because CB9 did this and then after a while it would start complaining about an invalid s/no and attempt to close down. With CB9 it was not possible to use widows to uninstall it as it does not appear in the list of installed progs.

at one point I event re-installed Windows XP Pro and tried to install CB9 as the fist application on it and it still failed to install correctly The operating system is certainly legal and as far as I am aware both CB9 & 10 were a well (perhaps Hugh has something to confess?).

Any ideas anyone?

Did you have CB9 installed when you installed CB10? If so it would have recognised it and performed an update which does not need a new S/N.

I have CB 9 and have had no problems with it at all?

This is the reply I have had from CB:-

Quote:

Please start your CB 10 program again.
Make sure that your system has access to the internet and go to menu Help - Program activation.
Choose "Activate" and do the online activation with your CB 10 program key (printed on the CB 10 manual) and the security key.

After successfull online activation you will have access to the ChessBase Online Database.

I probably should leave ALL chess related matters these days to Jonny.

After successfull online activation you will have access to the ChessBase Online Database.

And ChessBase will then tell you how to think, how to play.
They will assess your positions with += and =+ sympbols and wring
dry your creative ability turning you into one of their chess playing drones.

You have just been assimilated.
