Posting this message here as the Chess Edinburgh noticeboard has been reset over christmas and users are only now gradually registering again.

Also a positive story for a change - not many clubs have managed to keep going for a 100 years!

Hi,

Hopefully most chess players in Edinburgh area are now aware that the Civil Service chess club are celebrating a 100 years of Chess activity!

A number of events are being organised throughout the year, the first of which is an Allegro tournament on saturday 14th February.
Invitations have been sent to all clubs in Edinburgh area to nominate two players to take part with players from Civil Service making up the numbers to 36.

Details can be viewed on our web site:

http://www.edinburghcivilservicechessclub.org.uk/archives/100year_allegro.htm

which has a list of players already confirmed to take part.

Johnny Marr is taking part as the oldest active player in Edinburgh!

Later in the year we plan to have a current members v. ex-members match and also have a simultaneous display arranged for club members with International Master Craig Pritchett.

Get in touch if you are interested in more details.

Cheers,
Crawford.
