It's an MBE actually, but still there are precious few honours that come the way of the chess community, and it's richly deserved.

Well done, Stephen!

I would like to add my congratulations to Stephen, too. Very well done and very good, too, for chess in Scotland, more widely.

As one of the many thousands of players Stephen has taught over the years I offer my congratulations.

Never has someone more deserving been honoured. I'm thrilled. Very Happy

Official recognition at last auld yin ! There are so many young players that Stephen has helped through the years and I am lucky enough to have been one of the first and hopefully far from the last. Congratulations my friend, you thoroughly deserve it.

Congratulations Stephen on a well deserved award.

If every high school in the land had 1 teacher even half as dedicated to chess and putting in time and effort when after school clubs for many sports have disappeared from many schools as yourself, we would have a scholastic chess system, junior chess system and club/congress system that would be the envy of many countries (The Netherlands and The Armenia's included)
