Further to Alex having the p taken I did a search for a list of banned substances - see: http://www.wada-ama.org/rtecontent/document/2010_Prohibited_List_FINAL_EN_Web.pdf
Has any Scottish player had to provide a sample? Is it standard practice at Olympiads etc?
Looking down the list I was pleased to note that alcohol though banned for archery is not banned for chess: a great relief for one and all at the Prestwick Congress (and presumably Alex as well) |

Hmm, alcohol and chess. I can feel some good stories coming on like opponents complaining to arbiters they can't find a space to put a captured piece as empty glasses cover everything, players leading tournaments with one round to go and losing in the last round by turning up late after celebrating their victory prematurely, or even being out at a lap dancing club till five in the morning before hoovering up the Blackpool dosh with ease on the Sunday. However, that's enough of my team for the moment, who's next?

Ah now Mr Moore, remember the golden rule; what happens in Benidorm (and other places) stays in Benidorm. Otherwise many a weel kent face will be......  heheheheheheh. |

Paul Motwani was tested at the Bled Olympiad in 2002. it was covered* here in the round 11 write-up (together with how to ruin your database with a kiwi fruit and other delights):
