Tournaments

British Championships - any scottish entrants ?

Dear chess friends,
We have the pleasure to invite you to Arad Open 2010 which will take part in Arad (west of Romania, near hungarian border, 250 KM from Budapest), 6-12 august 2010. It will be a swiss 9 rounds open with the possibility to achieve international norms (organizers will manage to have at least 6 GM participating). First prize is 3500 RON (~850 euro), total prize fund 16.600 RON (~4000 euro).
We have also fantastic accomodation prices – from 4 euro in boarding schools and from 13 euro in the super stylish Coandi Hotel*** http://www.hotelcoandi.ro/en/about-coandi/ .
You can have fun in the bughouse and paires chess tournament and relax at great trips we organize – wine tasting trip at Wine Princess vineyard in Minis where you can acquire the technique of wine tasting. http://www.wineprincess.ro/?lng=en
Also we’ll have trips on the river Mureş by canoes and kayaks. The River Mureş represents an attraction that few people can resist. As its varied, always changing and lively, the river Mureş seizes our thoughts and senses with each bend that we encounter. http://www.luncamuresului.ro/en/
As a means of relaxation in Arad we recommend Neptune swimming pool complex - the largest swimming pool complex in Eastern Europe, which covers an area of about 28 hectares of greenery and includes 5 pools and water slide, more than 100 bars, terraces, restaurants, discos, clubs, internet cafe to which are added tennis courts, volleyball and the minifootbal field. - http://www.vados.ro/turnee/ro/12/22/199

Andrew,

You might be aware that we run a number of events south of the border. I would like to make you aware of a couple of forthcoming events that might be of interest to Scottish players

Uxbridge International. A series of all play alls for players of all strengths, including two IM norms sections. We have 3 spaces left (for titled players) and any Scottish FM will receive a 50% discount if he enters by 14th July 2010.

e2e4 Young Masters. A 9 round swiss for players born on or after 1st January 1989. It would be great if Scotland we able to send a team to this event. If you were able to send 4 or more players we would be prepared to offer free entry to every 4th player.

I've attached the entry forms for these events in case you are able to publish or publicise. All details can be found on our website at www.e2e4.org.uk and of course if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Kind Regards,

Sean Hewitt
