Useful post from the ECF's International Director Laurence Cooper on the ECForum:-
Quote: | The 2010 European Individual starts tomorrow in Rijeka Croatia. There are 420 players in the mens event including English Grandmasters Mickey Adams, David Howell and Keith Arkell. Alan Tate from Scotland and Peter Hayes from Ireland are playing and Ketevan Arakhamia-Grant plays in the womens event.
I believe there are 22 qualifying places for the world championship available; the strength of the tournament can be measured by the fact that David Howell is 80th seed!
The tournament website can be found here: http://www.eurorijeka2010.com/home/ and pairings, results and the list of players are likely to be via this link: http://chess-results.com/tnr29567.aspx?lan=1 |

Keti played another exciting game against Pia Cramling, the 2nd woman who became a GM. At one point Pia could have taken 1 of 3 en prize pieces, but would have lost.
Keti is now 1st= with Monica Socko, Poland & Tatjana Kosintseva, Russia.
Alan has 2.5/5 _________________ ''All murderers are punished unless they kill in large numbers and to the sound of trumpets.'' Voltaire |
