Rd 8 & there are 11 on 5.5 - 2 of them women! Percentage wise that is great. Stuart Conquest said yesterday that most top bds were 50% women! That is a great change from 20 years ago when there were hardly any women playing at all. What's more ~20 females are playing in the top 1/2 out of just over 30.
As far as family players are concerned there still aren't any women playing, but it will eventually trickle down into the general consciousness that women can be strong players & then we'll get the 50 % all over.
It's a pity our chess journalists don't speed the process up a bit. I'll make sure that Ayrshire hears about Ali's draw with the first IM she's ever played - Craig Pritchett.
Alan got 5/7. So he's only 1/2 point behind the leaders!
g l to Keti who plays against Francois today.
