Whilst perusing the on-line pages of "Chess Pravda" like the good computer using chump I am, I came across something very interesting;

It was a link to the FIDE World Blitz Championships 2010 on-line tournament;

http://www.viewchess.com/fritzserver/FIDEBlitz2010/

Take a look at the FIDE Commercial Director.

Look at that name.

That first name is very familiar to us all on the noticeboard... and our very own King Poster has introduced the term Borg and has been using it an awful lot in the last 7 days. Put the two together and you get..

GEOFF BORG.

Could it be that Auld Reekie's finest is subversively corrupting the chess players of the day and talent of the future promoting an event where you don't play with a board and a set? Question

Is he making money for Kirsan's next election campaign by helping sell more "boxes" and tools for the "box" Question

Would a photograph of the same said FIDE Commercial Director reveal it to be Edinburgh's very own Mr Chandler? Question Wink

Or could it be that geoff has a secret chess twin called Geoffrey who comes from a parallel universe? Question

Could Geoffrey be the yin to Geoff's yang w.r.t using the box to improve at chess Question
(Wikipedia describes Yin-Yang as "used to describe how seemingly disjunct or opposing forces are interconnected and interdependent in the natural world, giving rise to each other in turn. ")

Interesting times... you know the end of chess is near when Das Box Daily quotes phrases like...

"38.Rf4?! Here, although not having a computer to hand, Kasparov instantly predicted 38.Rd1! which your engine will confirm is indeed winning. He was aghast when Carlsen instead played the text. 38...Qxb2? Kasparov's misery did not last long. 38...Kb6! was Black's only hope. 39.Rf5+ Kb4 40.Qxb5+ Kc3 41.Rf3+ 1-0."

.... its a bit like saying Einstein didn't have a pocket calculator to hand... Laughing

Brilliant!

I've been rumbled.

Geoffrey Borg.

I bet he had a miserable childhood with all the playground jokes.

Love that last bit.
Just about sums people's up attitude to chess and computers.

Kasoarov saw a good move without using a computer...astounding.
