To all club members, visiting teams from Glasgow, Lanarkshire and Dumbartonshire leagues and anybody else who's vaguely interested (but not to anybody to whom we owe money):

As of 1st January 2009 and due to a big hike in rent by our previous esteemed landlords, Crowwood Chess Club have moved venue to Stepps Cultural Centre, Stepps, Glasgow G33 6FH. It is only a few hundred yards from the old place and I think you just turn left at the Royal Bank and then it's first on the right, give or take. Club and match nights will still be Thursdays, kick-off 7.30pm.

I don't know if this link will work but I'll give it a go:

However, a wee bit of bad news for our Embra colleagues...

It would appear that due to the janny not being prepared to do a bit of overtime that matches will have to start at 7.15pm. P in the A not just for our Embronian contingent but for all of us. This will mean I will have to leave house before the Simpsons has finished.

Sorry for the cock-up. If this ever gets as far as the courts I will swear on my mother's grave that our beloved secretary told me 7.30.

This is our annual appeal for players for the Glasgow Chess League. We are not the biggest club and are frankly struggling to keep 2 teams running in Divisions 1 and 2 this year so any offer of help would be very much appreciated. We can give lifts from either Glasgow or Edinburgh if desired. Please get in touch by either dropping me a line on this forum or calling our beloved secretary Drew Pollock on 0141 779 1227. Come and see our lovely new venue, if nothing else. It's so nice Shettleston have moved in with us!

Right, I now hand you back to the Lewis Chessmen debate...
