There will be a junior training day on Saturday January 17th 2009.

Like the December 7th training day it will take place at the same time as SJC heats for the BG novice. Entry fee will be £10 for 6 hours coaching

This time it will take place in the same building to make life easier for parents.

To reduce conflicts of interest with BG sponsored events being run by SJC here are the categories targeted for this training day.

(1) J11 and younger boys above 600 grade

(2) J10 and younger boys close to 600 grade

(3) All girls playing in the girls open and girls U600 events being held simultaneously in the same building = coaching between games plus before and after the event. These girls get free coaching

(4) Any girls who opt for coaching ahead of the BG competitions.

Entries for the training day we need to know in advance to recruit an appropriate number of coaches. Entries and specific invitations will be co-ordinated by Hannah McFadyen who will be acting as Tournament Director.

For those of you interested in the ideas behind my actions.

Firstly: This year we have an amazingly talented group of J10 and under juniors. Many of the highest graded players in this age group receive minimal coaching and I want to raise their game to a new level before they complete P7 year and enter their secondary school. The age when traditionally many stop playing.

Secondly
In December 2009 I want to take to Liverpool an even stronger U12 team than this year.

Thirdly
Its time to do something positive for the girls. Did you notice that the team that won their event in Liverpool was the team with 3 girls.
