Phil, Jacqui and helpers,
I have just received back one happy lad who has had a great chess weekend that was (quote) "...very well organised...and great fun".

Many thanks for all the work involved in organising this trip. It really is appreciated.

Thanks to Andy for the updates, even if it forced me to be constantly online checking for updates!

Mike

Hectic is an understatement - I've just found time to read the blog for the first time.

Massive thanks from the junior board to the chaperones and parents who did an amazing job all weekend.

Great to see such a wonderful friendly and mutually supportive atmosphere develop between all the players there. They even let me play and win a game of doubles pool. Great moment to see Ali sink the winning black.

Well done to Jacqui and Phil for organising the weekend.
I accompanied Gordon as it was his first international tournament, I would like to say how well behaved and polite all the children were over the entire weekend. Well done to all of them!

I would like to give a BIG thankyou to the children. I am so proud of them all - their team spirit, so supportive to one another, their bahaviour was exemplarily. They are a credit to themselves. us, their parents & Scotland.

I would also like to say thankyou to the coaching team & the parents that came with us, whom without it would not have gone so smoothly. Preparing meals for 44 is no mean feat, especially under time pressure. It was hard work but so rewarding.Thankyou.

Special thanks to Andy who not only was our IT man but also, chef, bottle washer & had less sleep than the rest of us as he supervised the 14 bed dorm!!

& of course there was the chess. Some great results.

Jacqui

Speaking entirely as John Dempsey (the chessplayer), I am truly grateful for the opportunity that was afforded me to look closely at what Scotlands juniors, parents, and organisors, were able to do. It was a tremendous piece of work.

The children were superb. They fought each and every game and were a real credit to the Scottish game. The parents pitched in with a will and helped and enabled to make this a memorable occasion. The organisors, Jacquie Thomas, Phil Thomas, and Andy Howie, deserve to be aplauded loud and long for what they have achieved. They worked non-stop, and they worked like Trojans throughout this weekend and obviously had put an awful lot into the organising of the event beforehand. Well done to all!

John
