The Chess Scotland Primary Individual Chess Championship will be held at Dunnolly Adventure Centre, Aberfeldy on June 7-8th 2008. This is a residential 2 day event for 32 players over 6 rounds with outdoor activities organised for the Saturday evening. Invitation to this event is based on the following:

• Players must be attending primary school or be of primary school age
• current chess grade (the most recent grade will be used)
• chess activity (at least 4 games must have been played this season if player was active last year and at least 10 games played this season if player is new)
• All players should be able to record their games and use a clock

I have issued a number of invitations already to players who clearly meet the above criteria. However, there will be undoubtedly be little to separate some players who are competing for places and I am therefore very keen to receive input from individuals who are involved in coaching juniors or running chess clubs in Scotland. If you believe that a young player(s) merits an invitation then please contact me by email (jeremy.hughes@ed.ac.uk) outlining your reasons. Thanks very much.
