How do you convert elo to BCF and vice versa?

If I remember correctly, you take your Scottish rating, takeaway 600 and then divide it by 8 to get BCF. If you have a BCF, multiply it by 8 and then add 600 to get back to Scottish. I know Im not a grader but I knew the answer so... Very Happy Razz

BCF grades are pathetic, why do they not just use the CS system, or something similar. I'd rather have no grade than a BCF grade, they're just so weedy.

Why be different from everybody else? No other country that i know of doesnt use some sort of ELO

English grades have been here forever, at least longer than when Mr. Elo invented his & we must uphold tradition!
I hear this argument (for upholding tradition) when I argue that horse owners ought to look after the muck themselves & not leave it around on beaches or when some1 tells me that we've always had wars & therefore we must continue to spend large amounts of money on war efforts. Crying or Very sad Evil or Very Mad

Actually true: The BCF grading was put into practise in March 1954, the Elo in 1960 in USA & in 1970 in Fide.
The German Ingo system wasn't used anymore, when i started playing in Germany! Wink
