The Primary Individual Championship was held this very damp weekend at the Dunnolly Adventure Centre in Aberfeldy. As in many events, things did not go accordingly to plan for the highest graded players. At the end of 6 rounds, 3 players were tied for 1st place on 5/6: Peter Devenny (8th seed), Andrew McLaughlin (10th seed) and Alice Lampard (20th seed). Peter came out on top of the tie break and was declared the CHESS SCOTLAND PRIMARY INDIVIDUAL CHAMPION 2007. Well done Peter!! All of the players did very well but Alice Lampard's performance deserves special mention as she overcame the 2 top seeds and drew with the 4th seed on her way to scoring 5/6 - a truly excellent performance. Taylor Panton finished in a clear 4th place with 4.5 out of 6. Well done to all the players and their Mums and Dads who braved the elements to get them to the event.

Despite the inclement weather the children did actually manage to get outside to scramble about the walls and ropes on Saturday evening - event Amy had a go! I would like to thank the volunteers who made sure everything went so well over the weekend - Norrie and Maureen Mathie, Donna and Amy Officer and Jim Anderson who was the arbiter for the event. We cannot do it without your efforts - Thanks! A full report will follow shortly.
