|
|
I am starting up this thread to list the problems which are known about already. If you spot anything else then please feel free to let me know and I will update this list, or if you have anything further to add to any of the points listed below then please feel free to reference it using the number to the left of it. Discussion below this is allowed, as this original post will always be the most up-to-date version of the known issues.
Note: I will not solve problems that are related to Internet Explorer 7 or older. Many of the new features that the site uses or will use in the near future will require Internet Explorer 8 or better (or equivalent Firefox/Safari or alternative). Older browsers will soon die out (even more than they already have) now that Google is no longer supporting them (See: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-13639875).

Known Issues
Solved Issues
I4.0: The line graph x-axis labels occasionally duplicate. [16/08/2011]
I3.0: The line graph key is around the wrong way. [21/07/2011]
I1.0: Grading Calculation styles displaying incorrectly in IE7. [Not fixing, users should upgrade browser instead]
I2.0: When switching through seasons in games the column widths adjust, seemingly randomly. [IE7 issue only]
Notes
N1: The average grade of your opponents used in the grade calculation is not the same as the actual true average grade of your opponents, shown in the stats. This is correct. The average opposition when doing the grade calculations takes into consideration the 400 rule, the 200up rule, junior additions etc, where as the stats page shows the true, un-adjusted grades of your opponents.

Having looked at my stats, I wonder, is it the key that is wrong?
In my case it would appear that the regular and allegro grades for the last two years have been swapped over. My regular grade has been the higher of the two for the last 4 seasons, but according to the graph they have switched.
I tried to check this by going back through the seasons, but the grade calculation showing is always the one for season 2011-2 |

No it wasn't only the key, but the key was also wrong. Upon closer inspection quite a lot was wrong, as the arrays that are used to plot the graph were mixing up index keys. I think I have now sorted it, please advise if you spot any other errors on the graphs. |

Andrew,
I have noticed that when you type up a list of the club members on the grading page a lot of names that are no longer active or have sadly passed away feature again on the list. Can you sort this out as it can be potentially delicate |

Thanks for pointing it out Stephen. Can you please email me some examples, as I thought this had already been dealt with?
Cheers |

Andrew as far as my club are concerned, I think that those who are classified as inactive were last active in the club years ago. a number also are no longer with us. It is best just to clear those who are classified as inactive should not show up on the online list |

Steve there are two sides to it: search players and player rankings.
The search players facility is designed to allow the user to find a player, irrespective of their status (with few exceptions such as RIP). This is useful if ever anyone wants to track an old pnum or something, I don't think we should just remove them.
The rankings only shows active players. |

my point is Andrew that when you click on the club part of the search component, you will see all the names under that club even if they have not played for years or have passed on. Some of the players who have been listed at my club have been dead for quite a few years. |

It shouldn't show people who have died. There must be an error somewhere. Can you please forward me their names in an email so that I can investigate?
Thanks |

it's nice to be able to see the former members. But it would also be nice to click on a list of active members only.
In the olden days you could click on your club & see all the members + their grades (this year & last). What happend to that file? I can't find it. _________________ ''All murderers are punished unless they kill in large numbers and to the sound of trumpets.'' Voltaire |

Can this problem with my grade be fixed, I wonder?
I'm only showing up at just over 1700, but I know that I'm a far better player than that and my grade should be much higher

Eh... you're only slightly better than a Chimpanzee at Chess, if anything your grade should be dropped by about 1000 elo. |
