At the risk of duplication this posting also appears in the General Chess Chat forum under '1st of May - the meaning revealed'

Dates this year are 14 – 16 October.

There are a few new things:

We are introducing some extra discounts - £3 discount for anyone who is unemployed or on certain benefits (JSA, IB, ESA) but we will need to see evidence;

We have a new sponsor – Universis Technology Ltd, who developed Dinosaur chess, and who are providing funding to enhance prizes for juniors;

We have increased entry fees by £1 per tournament, but anyone who played in this congress in 2009 or 2010 can enter at last year’s price (£21, £17 or £19);

As an experiment we are offering free entry to GMs and IMs in the hope that (if there’s any take up) this will encourage a larger general entry;

We will be repeating the webcam coverage we trialled last year, and also expect to be able to broadcast at least one game live using a sensory board;

For anyone needing accommodation we will provide regular updates on prices/offers. In addition anyone wishing to use a hotel/B&B in/near Dundee City centre and who doesn’t have their own transport, we will get you to/from the venue. Please contact me directly in good time if you want to take advantage of this. Currently the best hotel rates are from Travelodge. We have prepared a document with more detail on some hotels – see the website accommodation (Where to stay) page

Following three years of inviting charitable contributions we will not be doing so this year;

The website – www.dundee-congress.co.uk – has been updated with the changes and latest news. Visit regularly as we hope to update information periodically, particularly hotel prices.
