Well done for beating the mighty Edinburgh B.
Damn, that's me banned from the Spens and Richardson now |

It's a superb result, but I know from recent personal experience that Messrs. Payada and Babin, at least, are seriously under-rated at those figures! |

Thanks gents.
Andy - I agree, and you can add Mikey Grove to those names. Dmitry and Mikey arrived out of nowhere last summer with no history and, on the basis of a few club games, were given their estimates. I do think those estimates were fair at the time but both have improved at a frightening rate during the season, and Andre just gets steadily better. There is not much to choose between our top three regulars.
Now we have to improve on the last time we reached a Spens final - we defaulted two boards, got lost on the way, arrived late and were thumped 5˝ - ˝ by Edin Civil Service. |

Can i please make it clear that I am in no way suggesting the reason for Edinburgh's defeat had anything to do with their not being a tip top team and a bunch of general good eggs. |

Indeed, I'd be interested to know where Michael Grove's 1720 est. rating came from as well?! Looks like Castlehill could have a renaisance ahead. Possibly even their best since I played there in the 1980's |

Michael (or ‘Mikey’, as he prefers) first surfaced in last year’s Edin congress Bishops tourn, which he jointly won with a grading performance of 1723; he next played in Castlehill’s summer tournament with a performance of 1652 from 3 games, then the last Dundee congress with a performance of 1668. Since October he has a TAFCA performance of 1850 from 6 games.
I think you’re right George – when you include Daniel Rocks who has played in several TAFCA matches this is becoming our top four for a long time. What a pity Gunnar has moved on. Fancy coming back? We might be able to find a board for you |
