Disagree on point 1, still think 3-1 looks a bad deal. There is only really a couple of guys who might, realistically, be able to pull it off, and are still by no means the favorites to do so. There have only been three rounds, there are many more surprises required and many more Kings to be slaughtered before your 3-1 looks a good deal.
Completely agree on point 2 though.  |

why all these quick draws ?
I was thinking of spectating on saturday but is it worth me bothering ?
should I watch the Open golf or the Bobby Fischer film instead ?
You don't win the championships by drawing games.
Alex, please bring in Sofia rules for the weekend spectators.
Also we want a champion, no shared titles please |

Rule: All spectators must watch a minimum of 30 moves before being allowed to leave the building.

Just logged in to see how our upcoming players were geting on as they battle to lead the struggle to become Scottish champion this year. So, errmm, I have to say I am a little dissappointed to find there is no game on top board today.
Sofia rules needed? |

I was also disapointed, where's the fighting spirit in that? Especially after both have been doing so well! Come on guys, at least wait until you're out of the opening before agreeing a draw!  |

I don't think you can criticise them, a draw suits both in the current tournament situation, especially Sreeves.
All this talk of Sofia rules is nonsense, these are not professional chess players, they are not here to enterain anyone and are paying £75 to enter the event, if they wish to agree to a draw then I see no problem with it.
Sofia rules would make no difference anyway, I can think of any number of opening repetition draws to get around it. |

A draw doesn't suit them as much as a win. It's probable that if either of them are to become Scottish Champion then they will need more wins, not draws.
I think the criticism is understandable and fair, although I don't agree that Sofia rules should be introduced. I just wish the players would actually play with some more fighting spirit, especially considering that they spent £75 to enter. What's the point in spending that if you aren't going to actually play all the rounds? Both of them are perfectly capable of beating each other if they play well, so why not try?

A draw takes Sreeves to 5 points and a guaranteed share of the lead going in to the next round. If Green plays for the win with black and loses it practically puts him out of contention for the title.
A draw was always going to be the result here, infact I knew when I logged on to look at the games at 3pm that the game would already have been drawn. Scottish Juniors have a long history of drawing with each other, I know I was also guilty back in the day
