The biggest event in the UK for many years. Surprised there isn't a thread running on it.

Round 1, is tomorrow (Dec 8th) at 14:00

Magnus Carlsen v Vladimir Kramnik

Luke McShane v Nigel Short

David Howell v Michael Adams

Hikaru Nakamura v Ni Hua

I'll predict Wins for Carlsen, Short, Adams, Nakamura.

Now who wants to predict 4 draws ?

Phil,

Hard to argue against your predictions but I will go for

Draw for Kramnik
Short to win
Howell to win
Nakamura to win

I go for 4 wins - The big C is back to full health and the senior English GM have something to prove to each other and the young GMs. Not sure about Nakamura but doesn't want to miss out on win fest.?

I predict there will be no short draws (there may be Short draws) as the Sofia rules have been invoked here.

Was at the venue from 9am to 8pm today setting up. I have not been this tired in a long time. If all goes well, this is going to be an amazing experience (I take that back, regardless it is going to be an amazing experience). I am really grateful to be allowed to be part of this.

I have spent today with Jan from DGT, I even had a test game with a friendly IA Albert Vasse (and was taken apart). I have learnt a great deal from Jan about the DGT systems and also passed on a few problems with the program that they had not seen (and have vowed to fix as soon as!)

So far so good. I hope it continues tomorrow.

Good news indeed as their software did need some TLC to be honest...

The PlayChess interface looks the slickest at the moment

Best of luck today!

Epic game by Luke McShane and Nigel Short. Nigel Short resigned after 163 Bxh6. Very Happy

We played a game of "Guess where the kings are" for the last 2 hours of that game! Bizarrely both Kings stopped being detected and It was down to Superb work by Albert and Jan in getting me the moves so I could keep the game up to date!!

It was certainly an epic. I guess we will be changing that board tomorrow Smile

Worn out the board already ? I thought Short could have safely resigned at move 161.

For today I predict a Carlsen win and 3 draws.

WELL SAID GRAEME!!

Any clock which adds time on in a way which simulates the way time was added on mechanically (i.e AT the time control) has to be a good thing. Admin and I had a chat with Phil Thomas about this the other week and I find it hard to believe that so many clocks on the market DON'T replicate the analogue way of adding time on.
