Round 2: Connor won, Ali won, and Kai won. Ian and Ben both got off the mark with draws. Some good positions were had by those that lost, so we can take encouragement from that. Team morale is high, and we're looking forward to improving in the results department as the tournament progresses.

To save readers trawling through multiple pages here are the grades of the Round 3 opponents.

Ali 1908
Connor 2360
Daniel 2105
Andrew 1787
Ian 1811
Maryann 2148
Ben1780
Kai's opponents was unrated

A word about gradings in the U8 section.

Only 15 of the 129 players have a Fide average of those grades is 1,598

5 of those graded players are on 3/3 average of their grades 1707
4 of those graded players are on 1/3 average of their grades is 1739

Overall the graded players have scored only 68.8% - without yet meeting one another.

I wonder how many of the wins by FIDE rated players were aided by the mindset of the ungraded player ??

Fantastic results by Ian moving onto a plus score despite being outgraded by an average of 307 points.

Ali Roy also has a plus score (2.5/4)

I know that all the players will be working extremely hard before and during their games.

Today there are two games, tomorrow is the rest day.

Which will be a well earned rest for all the squad.
