I am looking at an idea for a tournament with a difference for next season and I'm looking for feedback on whether it is worth organising or not.

I am thinking of the "Scottish ChessTriathlon Championships"

It would be 9 rounds over 2 days,

Day 1 would be 3 games of lightning (3+0, 3+2 and 1+2) followed by 2 longplay games (30/60+15 and 30/90+30).

Day 2 would be 1 Longplay (40/120+30) and 3 Blitz (15+0, 25+0, 30+0)

9 games in total with 9 different time controls.

Any thoughts? Would people play in a novelty event like this.

If there is enough interest, I am going to look into getting sponsors for it.

Sounds quite fun. I would play.

How would the grading work for something like that? The long games would be graded? Cool

3 x grading for the long play and 3 x grading for the blitz. Until we have a lightning circuit I can't see a grading appear for it Very Happy

to clarify though we discussed this earlier, the lightning includes increments?

I'd play. but only if DGT clocks used.

Brilliant!
To anyone mentioning grades - forget it: chess is about fun. This sound like fun!
