Why do the East of Scotland and Hamilton Junior Congress clash?
Given that one can't be in two places at one time, one of these events is going to miss out. Added to this is the dilema Do I selfishly play the E/O/S or the kids play Hamilton?

The Hamilton congress is aimed at juniors principally from the West.

The EoS is aimed at Adults principally from the East (U1500, U1800, Above 1700 sections)

Few clashes of the sort affecting you and your kids were anticipated but note that the West of Scotland is back on the calendar and will happen on the weekend after the East of Scotland.

Errr...would that be because there was such a busy calendar of (adult) events throughout April and May Confused

Well, actually, George, the reason the EoS is on so late this year is that we simply couldn't get our venue for a full weekend at our usual time in mid-May.

I don't like clashing with other events - even when (as here) they are aimed at different groups of players, it is still not possible for parents and/or drivers to be in two places at once. However, it's far better to have a full calendar (even if that means that some clashes will occur) than to have a half-empty calendar.

I'm actually delighted about the change of date as I have missed the E/O/S for the past three years due to another (non chess) clash when it was played in mid-May.
The kids will just have to wait until the next junior event Embarassed

I hope you've noticed the Eastwood Allegro on Monday 19th at 7-00 p.m.
Southside of Glasgow at 7-00 p.,m. not too far to travel.

Gorgias,
New this year at the Eastwood Allegro a third section restricted to U1100 mainlist grade at start of season.
