The Stonewall attack? Or the Stonewall defence? ....... _________________ It is said that life is too short for chess but that is the fault of life, not chess |

On page 25 of that thread one can find a statement from Lara.
I fully believe what Lara says and consequently I conclude that she acted completely correctly.
Looking at parts of the other 28 pages of that growing thread I just have to say.
Dear ECF posters,
Some people occasionally make errors of judgement.

During the period I've been fishing I decided to become a coach. That involved doing a UKCC qualification, first aid training, diversity training and of course child protection along with enhanced disclosure, CRB - now PVG.
One of the principles of the child protection training for sports coaches is that you - the coach - should be a role model for the particpants in terms of behaviour, conduct and dress. This means I shave before I coach people and clean down my waterproofs of muck and fish slime. It also means that I wouldn't wear a "Vote "Yes" for Independence" T shirt even though it's something I believe in strongly. My beliefs outside of angling are irrelevant to coaching angling and are inappropriate to display/publicise when I'm coaching.
CJ has - from scan reading the tedium at the ECF forum - had a CRB check done and I therefore assume that he has completed a child protection course. He should have realised what he was wearing was inappropriate - not because of what it said but simply because it expressed one of his views and that this view was irrelevant to Chess.
In my view the arbiters were 100% correct in their actions - the shirt was wholly inappropriate for a coach/official to be wearing at a children's event even if that event was combined with adult events. |

Can I, for the reasons previously stated and so well expressed also by others, including in particular Craig, offer my whole hearted support to Lara. |

Agreed. I can't imagine what the last 24 hours must have been like for her. However, it appears common sense has finally broken out down south... |

AWIC- Thankyou very much for providing that link, some very enjoyable pieces from Dave, my final round sparring partner from the Glasgow congress (I was getting gubbed btw). Nice mention of Largs chess club slipped in ! Their premises are as good as you will get anywhere for a league match.
Lara- You were absolutely correct in your actions and I applaud you for taking them. |

Glad to hear that a settlement has been reached. Would like to think the truth would get as much publicity. |

Well, it seems to have generated a reasonable amount of publicity.
Could there be some pointers for future sponsorship and publicity there? |
