| For those going to the Megafinal on Saturday via the Forth Road Bridge should leave in plenty of time due to the road works. |

Also arrive in plenty of time. Entries are above the 183 achieved at Megafinal West and still growing.
Any one who has posted an entry form in the 2 or 3 days please back it up with an e mail.

Phil / Jacqui & co-workers,
Did a training session with the James Gillespies kids today and all were enthusing about the Mega-final yesterday.
Thanks! |

Thankyou on behalf of all arbiters & of course me. It was rather a shambles in the beginning with 206 children of which I guess 80% had never been to a tournament not knowing where to go or what to do so a delayed start but Donald Wilson put my mind at rest by saying it is always the same with those sort of junior numbers.
Anyway the team did a fine job & pulled back the time & even gave an extended lunchbreak & prizegiving was on schedule.
All children behaved wonderfully & I hope it was the first of many tournaments for a lot of them.
In recognition of the Megafinal entrants (who tend not to play again until next year) we are holding a Microfinal on Sat 2nd June at Holy Cross High School, Hamilton. Specifically to help give them more experience & in the usual class format. There will be trophies for 1st, 2nd, 3rd in each section & medals for all that score 50% or more, so hope you will be able to bring your guys along.
Of course all juniors are welcome to come to the Age Championships also in Hamilton the 26/27 May where each age group will be awarded with a trophy & runners-up with medals.
Finally if you have any children wishing to try & qualify for the Chess for Kicks finals being held at Murrayfield on 17th June the last qualifier is at Bishopbriggs on Sat 9th June.
For entry forms for any of the above events please email me

If you know of anyone who would like to be organiser of the Megafinal next year please let me know as I only stepped in when it was known that there wouldn't be an East of Scotland heat unless I did. As it was, the North East didn't get their heat so anyone in the Aberdeen area wishing to organise next years will also be welcome. For both these I am sure I could pull an arbiters team together but I am not willing to do the organising for two events next year I'll just look after the West. |
