Sunday 25 July to Saturday 7 August
University of Kent Canterbury, CT2 7NZ
Thank you to Stagecoach for their support of the biggest chess Festival in the UK!
Apart from the Championships themselves, there are two rapidplay tournaments, the British Senior Championships weekend tournaments, Five day AM and PM tournaments, free coaching, Junior events and free commentary from International Master Andrew Martin throughout!
We also have a live feed on our website, and hope to have a YouTube Channel with footage from the events.
High speed train service to Canterbury from London
It is easier than ever to get to Canterbury from London now that a new high speed service launched in December 2009 is available from Southeastern railways. This dramatically reduces journey times by travelling up to 140mph. The new service running from St. Pancras station can cut the journey time to Canterbury to just 57 minutes. Click for details or to buy or book your tickets. This service;
* Runs between St Pancras International and 21 stations
* Provides 200 trains every weekday
* Provides great value off peak fares
* Offers upgrades for season ticket holders
It is now possible to travel between Kent and central London faster than ever and make easy connections for journeys across the UK and Europe. It would be quite feasible to travel from London to the British Chess Championships at the University each day.
