Ed Spencer has followed his wins in 2006 and 2007 by retaining the East of Scotland trophy at Grangemouth this weekend.

Prize winners were:

EoS Championship:

1. Ed Spencer (Dundee & Victoria) 4½/5
2. Alan Grant (Cathcart) 4
3= Alan Tate (Wandering Dragons) 3½
3= Daniel McGowan (Hamilton) 3½
U/1900 Grading Prize: Clement Sreeves (Dalmuir) 3½

Major:

1. John McBride (Dunfermline) 4½/5
2= Ian Mason (Grangemouth) 4
2= Bappa Roy (Kinross) 4
U/1625 Grading Prize = Stephen Smith (Stirling) and Douglas Heatlie (Civil Service) 3

Minor:

1= Alan Armstrong (Kelso) 4/5
1= Graeme Russell (Bank of Scotland) 4
1= Fergus Thomson (Pentland Hills) 4
1= Scott Browning (Musselburgh) 4
1= Andrew Newton (Inverness) 4
U/1100 Grading Prize = Chris King (Perth) and Jamie Malkin (Kilmarnock) 3

The number of players taking part (81) was a record for the EoS (at least in the time that I've been controlling it), and as a consequence the prize fund (a total of £1080) was also the highest on record.

I'll send in the grading data tomorrow.
