The plan is to hold the Team Lightning (postponed from December) after the AGM of the SNCL at Dunfermline on Sunday 27 March, start soon after 3pm.
I'll hope to have an entry form on the website in a couple of days or so.

Is the team blitz really on the same day as the SNCL?

Yes, same day, but not at the same time.

The final round of the National League will be held in the morning, followed by the League's AGM, then the Team Lightning will follow in the same venue.

Saves on hire charges, saves on travel costs, and may encourage more teams to take part in the Lightning.

Whether it's the right format for the future we don't know, but I think it's worth trying.

I see, didn't realise it was the same venue.
I was secretly hoping you might change the dates for personal reasons Wink
Sounds like a good idea anyway.

The date for the Team Lightning is now approaching. I've got some entries but am hoping for a good number more. Please email me to let me know how things stand - all I really need at this stage from a club is number of teams and approximate average grade (needn't be too precise).

Will you take team entries on the day. It may be that some of the teams entering SNCL in the morning might decide it's a good idea to stay and play rather than go home early

Yes, on this occasion we'll take entries on the day.
It makes planning sections a little more difficult but we need to be realistic.
Even so, I'd still prefer entries in advance if possible, though we'll be able to accommodate last minute decisions.

Winners were Hamilton with Edinburgh University second and Dundee third. A report with pictures will appear in a day or two.

Here is a query.

Was this the 2010 team lightning or the 2011 team lightning. What shall be engraved on the trophy ?

In my opinion, this was the 2010 team lightning postponed by 3 months. The 2011 team lightning should be held in december 2011 as usual. If it is thought that march is preferable to december then let's leave this to 2012.

If the recent tournament is classified as the 2011 team lightning then what happened to the 2010 tournament ? Can Hamilton be declared 2010 & 2011 champions in this (inferior) case ?

I think holding the event in March is better than December, especially if we are going to get more snow over the coming winters. Entry was quite good for this years event, although It would be good to see it improving even more next time.

Maybe an increased entry fee and prize fund could tempt more stronger players to turn out? There are so many strong clubs who used to play, but don't seem interested anymore.

This was the 2010 team lightning. You will have to defend this title this December!!

Seems a fair enough idea, however what about the safety net the last afternoon gives the league if we have another rotten winter?
It has been used once, and on current form could easily be needed again.

Was the Team Lightning tournament decided on board count first rather than match points as it looked from the cross table as if Dundee and Edinburgh would have had more game points??
