Ideal for a bunch of chess players then in this day and age!

Also, what are parking facilities like? |
Clearly you don't come to Edinburgh often. basically, forget it |

There is no parking at the venue.
Parking on Saturday and Sunday is free and from 5.30pm all days.
In the immediate area parking is £1 per hour max 4 hours though I believe you can park for 6 hours a few streets away. About 400 yards away there is free parking but you need to arrive at about 6am. There are parking places free about 1 mile away if you are prepared to walk.
For the facilities on offer (including free tea and coffee) the price being charged is very competitive.
Play will be 1pm-7pm daily. We can get 100-120 in during the week and 180 or so at the weekend. There is a slight problem on the Sunday morning in that there is a religious service so a bit of resetting will be required for rd5 of the weekender. |

Good job Alex!
Is it a nice venue inside? I think I will play. With such a large period of notice it's much easier to fit everything else around it.

Parking in Edinburgh is awful, costs me a fortune every week.
I know the area well and parking is extremely difficult, however if you are prepared for a 5-10 mins walk then there are free spaces not too far away as Alex has said. |

I use the Ingliston Park and Ride facilities when visiting Edinburgh. It's about a 20 minute bus ride into town at a cost of £1.20 each way. I can only speak from my experience but I enjoy relaxing for that 20 minutes, letting someone else deal with the last leg of the journey. I'm not fretting about getting a parking space and can take in the sights of the city on the way in. The Lothian buses website has details of all the park and ride facilities around the town and bus timetabless. The bus service has always been good both ways, when I've used it.
I'll be taking part in the Edinburgh Yuletide Allegro, which is taking place on December 12th and will be using the Ingliston facilities then.
Of course, using the Park and Ride might not be a suitable for everyone but with the timing of the Scottish Championship games it's the option I'll be using. |

Question is will JR actually play when the event is a 10-15 minute walk from his front door |

Possibly, I was hoping it would be a bit closer though, a 20 minute walk might be a bit too far They could of held it at Edinburgh West's Church Hall then I would of definately played |

I'm bringing this up for everyone who hasn't seen it ! For some reason the announcement is not on the front page yet, although it's on the calendar itself.

Thought I should point out that on the entry form it says Saturday 9th - Sunday 16th July 2011. It should be Sunday 17th! |
