Hi Guys.

I know a fair crowd of you lads go down to this event and scatter
yourself among different teams.

What interrest is there is sending down a Scottish team.

Have you considered getting together to form a Scottish team.

I've had a wee wind up with ECF forum but Scotland should
have it's own team in this event.

Like to know how you feel. positve, negative?

You can have a serious discussion here and I won't interrupt.

(but the first person to suggest we call it the Lewis Chess Team gets a thump).

Hi Admin.

2 posts, the last the 10th Dec.

I want to know now how the boys are feeling and not just the
super-duper ones. This event is open to all.

Been asked to add this to my post.

"You should probably add to your notice that, by starting in Division 3 North (new for next season), they couldn't complain about travelling to the south of England."

See they are so keen to get you in, they have moved it norther.

Chess players, answer. Yes, No.

Come on lads - the tumbleweed is rolling through this one.

You get a Fide rating. (I've just checked).

Yes, No, comments?

This seems like a good idea, especially due to the difficulty of getting FIDE rated games in Scotland.

Thanks Clem and Andy.

C'mon boys - imagine the scene.

You are sitting on board 5 in the 2nd Div of the Coatbridge League.

"What's your grade?" asks your opponent.

"Do you want Scottish grade or my FIDE grade?"

Kapow! You have won the game before pushing a pawn.

Think about it. Post a feeling.

Have exact dates and cost soon.

Must stress that I'm not winding up the SNCL organisers nor
telling players to avoid that event.

I don't know the exact dates yet. I really do hope they don't clash.

Geoff

Hi Admin.

I hope not. The really keen guys can play in both and get a FIDE
in one season.

The English lads are really keen to see a Scottish team.
I had a few encouraging PM's from them.

Still, must not over shadow the SNCL. Have to support that.
If the dates clash then you have to choose the SNCL.

Pity.

Hi Robin:
You pay and we will go. We being the Chandler family, cats included.

Hi

I've bumped up the dates on the Northern League just to complete
this thread.

6/7 November 2010: Barcelo Redworth Hall (nr Darlington)
15/16 January 2011: De Vere Wychwood Park (nr Crewe)
19/20 February 2011: Barcelo Majestic Hotel (Harrogate)
26/27 March 2011: De Vere Wychwood Park (nr Crewe).

You can use the name 'The Tartan Rooks' which is the name
I gave my corresponddence 10 man team when we won the Div III
corres league ran by CHESS in the late 70's.

Geoff, OK i'll bite. We're in Div 6 of the coatbridge league (there is only us and we cant get promoted as there's no Div 5). I look forward to the play-offs though.

Anyhow, I'd also be interested but it'd really be better if it was a really Northern English league. Venue's like Carlisle or Preston perhaps, with maybe a Scottih venue too (or would that be too much for the Englishers).

Well they'd have to penetrate Hadrian's wall first.

Cheers Geoff,

This is where it gets Frustrating

First week will clash with Glasgow Congress, Last one with SNCL. We can't move that date or we clash with Edinburgh Congress which has its dates set by GH School.

We really need to try and get the dates separate so there are no clashes so that people can play in both. Is frustrating and something we really need to look at so that people can play in both

Hi Arf.

Yes I fully understand, it is a long way to travel for a couple
of games of Chess especially if it's just playing Chess for the
sheer enjoyment of just playing Chess as most of us normal
lads do.

The good guys go because they want to test themselves against
differerent and and other good players. Which they have to to improve.

But asking 'normal' chess players who loves the game just as much
to go that far for a couple of games is asking an awful lot.

I thought that may be the main reason and the expense of a stay over.

Thanks for getting back Arf and as this is my thread I'll let you
stray off topic, please tell me more about Div 6 and no Div 5.
