Internet temporamental
Scotland 0.5 Serbia 3.5
Graham drew and had good winning chances.
All must get team bus 2.25 pm, be present at board for 2.45 pm like good little boys.
Anyone not seated at 3pm at board is defaulted.
Random doping later.
Mosquitos in room.
Apart from that all well.

I have just seen a possible 500 Euro fine if I am late for my game. I hope our bus does not get stuck in traffic

Hi Andy,

Just played out all the games. Score is false regarding the effiort that
went into these games.

The White's especially gave as good as they got.
Nothing to fear here boys, just relax and pick them off.

Better hide Alan when the dope testing starts and can you please bring
me back a male and female Mosquito,
I have a wonderful idea for a joke at the next AGM.

Plan A:
Sneak into the playing hall at night and mix up all the names tags,
(except yours of course). The other teams will spend that long sorting
themselves out they will not be seated by 2.45 and the lot will lose
by default.

If per chance the team does pick up a 500 Euro fine give them Grahams's address.

Graham lives in England and the ECF will get sent the bill.

Keep us updated.

Geoff

scotland 0.5 montenegro 3.5
I was winning but drew, one of the many GMs I've let off.
Alan was better too.
No other problems except long games meant our tea was cold again

Hi Andy

The games from the 2nd round are not up yet but I know hiow you feel,
I hate not beating guys whose name I cannot pronounce.

Speaking of names.

I have noticed that most of the other teams have the letters GM
in front of their names. I think this stands for Good Mover.

I'm looking into it, I may have stumbled upon something here, tell
the other lads that these 'Good Movers' may be OK players and
to not under estimate them.

Tell the bell boy at the hotel where are staying that you are not really
chess players, but hotel inspectors.
This will get back to the management and I bet they will have a hot
meal waiting for you every night.

Glasgow today had it's 'Let's Celebrate Chess Day'.
Everyone on the CS grading list who turned up at the City Hall was
given £500, a gold & silver chess set and £1,000 in chess books.

Sorry you and the other boys missed it, I think you would have
enjoyed it.

Keep us updated.

Geoff

Looks like a strange result in the Conquest game - white plays D4 and black wins. Mobile phone troubles?

Hi Alan.

Knocking over that IM was a good result and Jim drawing v a guy
300 pts above him at this level is actually superb.

Scotland were outgraded on all boards so the 2-2 draw is an
excellent piece of work.

Scotland 1.5 Bosnia & Herzegovina 2.5

Andy took a quick draw with white, Jim played a nice piece sac and drew, Graham went down in a Queen's Indian, and I got tortured in a rook and pawn ending for 105 moves.
Happy days! Very Happy

Hi Alan,

Bosnia & Herzegovina?? Sounds like they fielded two teams against you.
No wonder you lost.

Can't wait to see Jim's piece sac v a 2440 player.
105 Rook and pawn ending v an IM good to see you are pushing these
guys to their limits.

Graham and Andy will facing GM's so it's up to you and Jim to do
the scoring on the low boards and it appears this is what you both doing.

Just think to yourselves.

"If these guys are any good, why aint they on boards 1 and 2?"

Piece of cake.

Keep us updated.

Cheers, Good Luck.

Geoff

good to Alan beating an IM and Jim drawing 3 games against much higher rated opposition. Looking forward to seeing some of the games, keep up the good work!
